Shaun Michael began his nursing career as an LVN in 1997 and earned his Associate Degree in Nursing in 1999. His Nursing experience includes Adult and Pediatric Emergency Department, ICU and he has been a Flight Nurse since 2002. He holds specialty nursing certifications in Adult Critical Care and Flight Nursing and is a Texas Licensed Paramedic. Shaun has an interest in educating EMS providers and Nurses in Critical Care, including ultrasound and advanced procedures in cadaver lab.
Shaun Michael earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014 where he was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in August 2019 with an Adult/Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner focus. He obtained Acute Care NP Board Certification from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and joined NTCC in 2020 where he provides coverage in the STICU and CVTICU. Shaun is certified by the Society of Critical Care Medicine in Fundamental Critical Care Support; Advanced Trauma Life Support from the American College of Surgeons; as well as maintains AHA certifications in ACLS, PALS, and NRP. He is a member of the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, North Texas Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Shaun’s wife Rachal is a Registered Nurse/Respiratory Therapist and his son Michael is a Biochemistry major at Texas Tech with plans to become a physician. Shaun is an Eagle Scout and enjoys traveling, watching movies, photography, hiking and camping.
